The Honourable Datuk Seri Dr Santhara, Deputy Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture officiated the ASEAN Cultural Digital Ambassador Transformation Programme – Unity In Bytes at Mah Meri Cultural Village, Aborigines Sungai Bumbun, Carey Island Selangor.
This programme collaboration the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC) with Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), together with the Selangor and Melaka State Government aims to raise the profile of edu-culture ecosystem via digital creative content, which will be called as “Digital Cultural Ambassador”.
A project funded by the ASEAN Committee on Culture and Information (ASEAN-COCI) grant, it consists of a series of seminar and cultural immersion programme. Unity In Bytes 2022 allows delegates from ASEAN countries to immerse in various edu-cultural activities of indigenous people and local communities in Selangor and Melaka.
Delegates will participate in interactive hybrid seminar and masterclass on regional culture economics as well as hands-on learning in creating digital content to promote and facilitate regional socio-economic recovery.
MOTAC as government of Malaysia is contributing 45,500 US Dollar (RM200,000) aid to the Mah Meri indigenous community under the National Economic Recovery Plan or PENJANA. This initiative aims to improve the livelihoods of the indigenous community and to boost the socio-economic activities in the area.
