The Branding Association of Malaysia (BAM), led by President Datin Winnie Loo, joined hands with 19 other prominent Malaysian associations to sign a landmark MOU under the theme Malaysia–Cambodia Investment & Trade Mission 2025, initiated by Malaysia–Cambodia Business Association (MCBA).

This ceremony marks the beginning of a strategic, multi-sector collaboration aimed at fostering economic growth and partnership between Malaysia and Cambodia.

At the event, MCBA President Dato’ Sri Dr. Ricky Yaw stated “We have signed this MOU with 20 associations as part of a broader alliance — not just for Cambodia, but starting here. This marks the launch of our first project.”

He added that this alliance is expected to bring in at least 100 Malaysian companies from various sectors such as fertilisers, engineering, electrical, and construction. The Malaysia–Cambodia Investment & Trade Mission 2025 is scheduled for June 26–29, 2025 in Phnom Penh.

Dato’ Sri Ricky Yaw also pointed out “Cambodia offers a promising environment — low entry barriers, evolving certification requirements, and 100% foreign ownership. You don’t need a local partner to start a business. These are major advantages for SMEs.”

Datuk Seri Dr. KK Chai, President of the Malaysia Chinese Assembly Hall (MCAH), remarked in his speech that the signing of this MOU signifies that entrepreneurs from both Malaysia and Cambodia are ready to embark on a higher level of bilateral cooperation. He stated “We are committed to aligning with government policies, collaborating with various organizations, and encouraging SMEs to venture abroad and explore overseas markets.”

Jar Shankar, Senior Director of MATRADE, also delivered a speech during the ceremony. He emphasized: “Despite global economic challenges, ASEAN remains one of the most promising growth regions in the world. Companies must carry out proper preparation and careful evaluation before expanding into foreign markets.”

This collaborative effort reflects BAM shared mission to elevate Malaysia’s trade presence and branding across ASEAN.
