The World Congress of Nephrology (WCN’22) 2022 will be held virtually and in-person at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (the Centre), from 24 to 27 February 2022. The virtual component will be supplemented by face-to-face programme and on-demand content for Malaysian medical professionals to share knowledge
with some of the world’s leading experts in nephrology (kidney healthcare), which will contribute to the growth and development of the local medical industry.
Hosted by International Society of Nephrology (ISN), together with the Malaysian Society of Nephrology (MSN) and Asian Pacific Society of Nephrology (APSN), WCN’22 has been reinvented and designed with adaptability at its core. Developed based on the current needs and demands of the nephrology world, the programme boasts a wide range of topics to be discussed including accessibility and sustainability of kidney healthcare in developing and third-world countries.
According to the Malaysian Society of Nephrology President, Professor Dr Abdul Halim Abdul Gafor, “On behalf of our co-hosts, ISN and APSN, we are pleased to bring WCN’22 to Southeast Asia to help advance understanding and awareness of kidney diseases in the region. We have exciting content this year including sessions on green nephrology and gamified-symposiums to entice greater participation from younger professionals. We hope that all delegates will appreciate the new format and be able to learn and exchange new knowledge, widen their professional circles and raise the region’s nephrology ceiling even higher”.
As the most reputable congress for kidney-related diseases, WCN’22 looks to bring together medical specialists, scientific bodies and the wider healthcare community, including nurses, paramedics and nutritionists. More than 3,000 delegates have registered to attend the congress. Malaysia is also well represented in the programme with 100 out of 1,000 abstract submissions coming from local medical professionals and organisations.
The Centre’s General Manager, Alan Pryor, shared, “We are delighted to welcome the Nephrology community to the Centre for the upcoming WCN’22 which is also our first international congress for the year. Malaysia is well known for its extensive experience in kidney healthcare and as such is the perfect host for WCN’22. We want to assure delegates that they will enjoy a seamless live stream of the sessions, supported by our strong Internet bandwidth and virtual broadcasting capabilities. For those attending the face-to-face activities at the Centre, you will be in a safe and controlled environment with strict compliance to the latest standard operating procedures”.
